History

In 1956 Karl Guttmann co-founded a new mechanical engineering firm in San Francisco with his friend Gerald Kasin. Kasin Guttmann & Associates changed its name in 1977 to Guttmann & MacRitchie after Gerald Kasin's retirement and the formation of a new partnership between Karl Guttmann & Norman MacRitchie. Steven Guttmann joined the firm in 1986 and became its president in 1993. In 1996, Jeffrey Blaevoet joined the firm as principal, and in 1997 the firm became Guttmann & Blaevoet in recognition of the partnership of Steven and Jeff. We opened our Sacramento office and established our electrical engineering department in 2005, providing full-service MEP engineering services to the San Francisco Bay Area and the Sacramento and Central Valley areas. On October 7, 2005, Karl Guttmann - founder of the company - passed away at the age of 86, leaving a legacy of Bay Area engineering leadership in the firm he started. Guttmann & Blaevoet celebrated its 50 year anniversary in November, 2006.
