Guttmann & Blaevoet provided mechanical design services for this flagship retail store on San Francisco’s Union Square shopping mecca. Designed to be a branding showcase, it sells top-of-the-line Levi’s merchandise. Within the store are facilities for computerized 3-D customer measurements, shrink-to-fit tubs and stand-up dryers, and on-site demonstration manufacturing. Architecturally, the renovation project features a four-story cylinder encasing the staircase and elevator, tall glass windows on the streetfronts, doors trimmed in copper and bronze, and a copper sign modeled on the red Levi’s tab built into the corner. Our mechanical design includes atrium smoke control, exposed ducts to complement the interior architecture, and special plumbing and equipment for the shrink-to-fit area.
