South Beach Harbor Services Building
Pier 40, San Francisco, California
The project consists of the construction of a new, 20,000 square foot building in the redevelopment of Pier 40, which includes a pedestrian plaza, a public access walkway around Pier 40, construction of two new docks, and accessibility improvements. The new Harbor Services Building houses a yacht club, community rooms, harbor services for boaters including showers, lockers, and laundry, and offices for marine-related businesses. For visual appeal, our mechanical design used low-profile rooftop equipment which sits below the architectural parapet. The units are vibration-isolated to minimize noise in the rooms below. With the large masses of glazing, our energy analysis showed low-E glass was the most energy efficient.
