Phase I, Hospital South is a three-story, 132,000 square-foot addition of acute-care hospital space, which began the two-phase replacement and expansion of the original hospital facility. Program spaces include an obstetrics department with 12 labor/delivery and full delivery suites, a well-baby nursery and 25-crib intensive neonatal care nursery. The 97-bed acute-care facility includes a pediatric unit with child-friendly fixtures and activity areas, and an adolescent unit with teen activity areas. A pathology laboratory, administration, and other support areas complete the facility. Our work included a new central plant interconnected with an existing central plant, a building automation system serving the entire hospital campus, and building commissioning. Total project cost was $35 million, with mechanical systems at $9.5 million.
