LEED Fundamental and Enhanced commissioning for a new resort hotel featuring sustainable building materials and operating practices. Gaia Hotel features 133 guest rooms , swimming pool, fitness facility, business center and conference/meeting rooms – is the first LEED Gold certified hotel in the world by US Green Building Council (USGBC).

This eco-friendly hotel offers guests the ultimate experience of harmony with nature. A koi pond surrounded by a lush garden and much more all on 4 acres in beautiful American Canyon. Developed by the owner, Wen-I Chang, “Gaia” is named in reference to the “Mother Earth” figure in Greek mythology, a term widely used by ecologists as a metaphor for organic earth.

Gaia Hotel sports cutting-edge sustainable technologies including solar hot water heating, variable refrigerant volume HVAC systems, cold water commercial laundry, recycled water, and daylighting controls. The counter tops, floor tiles and carpets were made with recycled materials, and environment-friendly sealants were used in the construction. As a result, the facility uses 26 percent less electricity and 45 percent less water than the standard hotel.
