Jewish Community Center

San Francisco, California

This new, 190,000 square foot community center provides comprehensive youth, adult, and senior programs to its membership and to the public.  Among the program areas are Kanbar Hall, a 480-seat  performing arts theater, and smaller Fisher Family Hall and Gallanter Hall, dance and music studios, art studios, an exhibition gallery, a library and bookstore, early childhood education center, teen center, administrative offices, and a three-story, 40,000 sf  Koret Center for Health, Fitness & Sport which features three pools, steam rooms, exercise rooms, and full gym.  The entire program is clustered around a central skylit atrium.   Support spaces include a commercial restaurant, kosher  kitchens, and a 180-car underground parking garage.  Our  energy analysis  resulted in a building that uses 25% less energy than California’s 2001 Energy Code (Title 24), and obtained a $47,000 owner’s incentive  from PG&E’s Savings By Design program.  r Hall, a 480-seat  performing arts theater, and smaller Fisher Family Hall and Gallanter Hall, dance and music studios, art studios, an exhibition gallery, a library and bookstore, early childhood education center, teen center, administrative offices, and a three-story, 40,000 sf  Koret Center for Health, Fitness & Sport which features three pools, steam rooms, exercise rooms, and full gym.
