High Performance Buildings From Beginning to End

Building projects have beginnings and ends. These parts of the life of a high performance building project always benefit from more effort, thought, and planning. Design for high-performance buildings calls for an integrated “whole building” approach, where the impact on of various design scenarios can be examined early in the design process. By modeling building envelopes and systems for energy impacts, building designers can balance sustainability with functionality and cost. Building commissioning also plays a key role in delivery of successful high-performance buildings. This presentation demonstrates the value of modeling and commissioning for high performance buildings, with an emphasis on healthcare, labs, and higher education facilities.
