Integrated Building Design and the Value of Comprehensive Modeling

With specialized expertise in whole-building energy analysis and HVAC design, our work with the PG&E Savings By Design program and other utilities has helped Guttmann & Blaevoet secure over $1,000,000 in utility incentives for Northern California building owners.  This presentation covers integrated building design techniques related to envelope, lighting and mechanical design; the validation of integrated design with comprehensive computer modeling and life cycle cost analysis; and real-world examples illustrating successful applications of integrated design. Attendees will learn how to compare the costs and benefits of measures such as daylighting, high efficiency glazing, and high efficiency HVAC early in the design phase to maximize investments in building efficiency.  Attendees will also learn how the Savings By Design program can be used to offset the costs associated with comprehensive modeling.
